Made In Brunel Innovation Show
The Made In Brunel exhibition showcasing projects by graduating students from Brunel University kicked off today in grand fashion, with its grand opening at midday. Made In Brunel has been organised totally organised by students and so far those involved have done a great job in putting the show together. This is the first time such diverse areas like design, engineering and multimedia have come together in one show celebrating the 200th anniversary of Isambard Kingdon Brunel’s birthday, as well as the 40th anniversary of Brunel University’s Royal Charter.

Yesterday was the last day of the show and what an experience. I’m sure everyone feels it has been a great success and has formed a solid foundation to take the brand forward for the coming years. I have no doubt the students and organisers would have learnt a lot from this first show to make next year’s show even bigger, better and more popular in attracting potential employers, investors and organisations wanting to help in some way.
One suggestion I would make is to have a similar or smaller show much earlier in the degree, say at the end of the first or second year. That way we have to get to know all the other students on the course. Now that the degree is over and the graduation ceremony is coming very soon, it’d be great if we could all keep in touch.
Today was tough, but I received some positive feedback on my short film, especially from fellow students. This once in a life opportunity to exhibit our work I feel will be very beneficial not only in attracting potential employers, but to gain experience in exhibiting work in a large show such as this. Also, the key is to be ‘positive’ the hard work of the final year is now over.
