Grim Challenge

Last Saturday (December 6) I was crazy enough to take part in the Grim Challenge, an 8 mile off-road run on an army course designed to test the rigours of army vehicles.

I was raising money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my friend, who passed away this year from a heart attack at the age of 26. Some of my friends also took part in the Grim Challenge for some other great charities and causes. They helped and pushed me along the way. We trained in preparation for the run for over a month – running during lunch at work, in woods and on the treadmill – thanks you bunch of winners!!!

When it came to the day we couldn’t have asked for a better day to run. It was sunny, but brisk and the atmosphere was great. Everyone was there to have fun and enjoy the run! We had some ‘dresser-upper’s’, which included Superted, Wally, a Smurf and more. The course involved running through massive puddles of cold water (some up to waist high), running under cargo nets, wading through clay pits and more. It was exhausting but in the end we all felt the same way about the run – ARGH!!! We were all chuffed and over the moon that we had completed the run. I completed the run 01:36:33 (1 hour, 36mins, 33 seconds). Here are some photos on Flickr:

I still need to reach my fundraising target of £350 and it would be great if you could sponsor me here:
