Project 5

Since September 2008 I’ve been working on an internet banking re-design project at LBi (where I work), for one of the UK’s top-five banks. The project is part of a 5-year programme that includes a redesign of the internet banking service, as well moving to new technology platforms. For confidentiality reasons I’ll refer to this project as ‘Project 5’. Continue reading…

Prototyping in Axure

For a recent project at work some of the team have been using Axure to design our wireframes. Not only that we’ve been using its snazzy prototyping features to build interactive prototypes. It’s a hot topic of discussion at LBi around which software we choose to use for our wireframes. Personally, I’m still learning, so I don’t really have a preference to any one program. But having used Axure for a few days now, I’m starting to see why more Experience Architects (EA’s) are using it. Continue reading…

Redesigning 3 property developer websites

For the past few weeks I’ve been working on a project where we’re redesigning 3 property websites for a large property developer group in the UK. For all three websites LBi has been asked to redesign the user experience, create a new brand identity, build, test and then implement the websites on a common platform. So, as you can tell, quite a big undertaking. Anyway, It’s the first time I’ve worked on a project where we’ve had to redesign three websites within a group of brands. Continue reading…

Working on a pitch

Me busy at work

Me scetching concepts for the pitch

For the past week I’ve been working on a pitch for new work.

The brief was to redesign an extranet site. The site is used as a repository storing design assets, guidelines and much more. The audience for the site had changed and now the site was in need of a re-design.

The team consisting of two Experience Architects (including me) and two Digital Designers along with our Account Manager and Project Manager worked collaboratively throughout the week, meeting regularly to check progress and to discuss any problems.

We moved into a dedicated creative space, where we put up loads of ideas, thoughts, examples and inspiration on the walls. This was good because I got to think in a ‘different’ way and try and tackle the problem and come up with ideas to meet the brief. We worked to define the types of users that would be using the site and spent a lot of time brainstorming and putting ideas on paper.

We did lots of sketching (scamps) on paper and these essentially became our wireframes for which the designs were based. This loose way of working helped us a lot because of the time restrictions.

All in all it was great fun working on the pitch and hopefully I get to work on more pitches in the future. Oh, got to do some painting as well, great! Fingers crossed we win the project.
